Despite performances by excellent artists and a promising repertoire, the Film Song Festival in Bydgoszcz did not receive a warm welcome from viewers. Technical and organisational problems meant that the event caused more controversy than delight.

Bydgoszcz to the rhythm of film music

On 5 January, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz inaugurated the Film Song Festival, which was broadcast live on TVN. The stage was filled with excellent Polish vocalists, including Krzysztof Zalewski, Edyta Bartosiewicz and Anna Karwan, presenting songs from cult films such as Chłopi film and Akademia Pana Kleksa. Everything seemed to indicate that the event would be a huge success. Unfortunately, technical problems significantly reduced the quality of the reception.

Technical shortcomings spoil the atmosphere

Although the artists gave their best, their efforts were overshadowed by problems with the sound system. Many audience members complained about the sound quality, which made it difficult to understand the lyrics and receive the performances. Some noted that the televised event resembled an amateur performance rather than a professionally organised concert. An additional problem was the lack of announcers who could have given the event a more coherent character and helped to build the atmosphere. As a result, the festival, although full of stars, left many spectators disappointed.

Storm online – audiences make no secret of their disappointment

Opinions quickly emerged on social media that did not leave a dry eye on the organisation of the event. Internet users criticised the quality of the sound and the way the festival was produced.

Is there anyone in control of the sound there? It all sounds like a shoddy MDK…. Where is the sound engineer? – commented an internet user.

Untapped potential

Technical stumbling blocks and a lack of proper coordination spoiled an evening. Audiences who sat in front of their TV sets, instead of enjoying the performances, expressed loud dissatisfaction. The organisers will have to learn from this year’s shortcomings so that future editions meet the expectations of both the audience in the concert hall and in front of the TV sets.

I couldn’t even hear half of the lyrics because of the sound problems. It’s a pity that such a great event was marred by technical issues.

The criticism on social media is justified. The organizers need to step up their game for future editions.
