The Polish Film Academy honoured the best actors and filmmakers for the 27th time. The Eagles, known as the Polish Oscars, are one of the most important awards in the domestic film industry. This year's gala took place at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw and was hosted by the irreplaceable Grażyna Torbicka, whose professionalism and elegance impressed the assembled guests as always.

Eagles 2025 – the big winners of the evening

The most important Polish award ceremony took place on 10 March, during which the Eagles were awarded to the best Polish filmmakers. The first award given was the discovery of the year. The statuette went to Maria Zbąska, recognised for her film To nie mój film. In the Best Supporting Actress category, Trine Dyrholm triumphed for her performance in The Girl with the Needle. The film also won awards for Best Editing (Agnieszka Glinska), Music (Frederikke Hoffmeier), Costume Design (Malgorzata Fudala), Choreography (Anne Cathrine Saurberg), Cinematography (Michal Dymek), Screenplay (Magnus von Horn and Line Langebek), and Best Lead Actress, starring Vic Carmen Sonne.

Strong productions and acclaimed acting performances

The award for best sound went to Johnnie Burn and Tarn Wiillers for their work on the film `The Zone of Interest’. In the best documentary category, the winner was “Wanda Rutkiewicz. The Last Expedition”, directed by Eliza Kubarska. When receiving the statuette, the director emphasised how up-to-date the story of the legendary Himalayan climber remains.

It was a very complicated production. We are telling the story of an extraordinary woman who has not been with us for 30 years, and in fact it turned out that we are telling a story that is current, contemporary and concerns many women. […] I would like to dedicate this award to all brave women – said Kubarska.

Best actors and most popular productions

The award for best male lead went to Filip Pławiak. The award winners also included Julian Świeżewski, who won an Eagle for best supporting male role. On the other hand, the best feature series was the production “Penguin Mothers”, and the audience award went to “Kulej. Two Sides of the Medal”.
