The last few months have brought a lot of criticism towards freak fights, which is starting to resemble a kind of media urge on this type of entertainment. The media hype is not without influence on professional decisions – for example, Maciej Turski, a commentator and employee of KSW and FAME, ended his cooperation with KSW. Interestingly, this turbulence reaches not only freak fights, but also more traditional sports organisations.

Declining interest and financial problems

The popularity of freak fights is clearly beginning to decline, and the declining interest in the galas is just one of the organisers’ concerns. There have also been reports that FAME has not yet settled all payments to fighters from previous editions. This situation is forcing the management of Europe’s largest freak fight organisation to face increasingly strained financial and organisational problems.

Location problems – cities unwilling to host freak fights

Against the backdrop of financial problems and dwindling interest, there are also doubts from city authorities, who are beginning to question whether freak fights are events they want to host. According to media reports, the mayor of Gliwice has expressed her reservations about KSW 100, fearing that the event could resemble a freak fight gala.
