Krzysztof "Diablo" Wlodarczyk once again reached for the highest laurels. On Saturday, 25 May 2025, at the KnockOut Boxing Night 39 gala in Kalisz, the 42-year-old boxer defeated Adam Balski and won the interim WBC federation world champion belt in the bridgerweight category. For Wlodarczyk, it was his first international title since 2016 and a symbolic return from a very long way off.

Wlodarczyk and his championship knockout after a tough start

The duel had an even course from the first rounds, but in the fifth installment something happened that could end the fight before time – Wlodarczyk was hit by Balski and counted by the referee. However, the experienced ‘Diablo’ rose from the boards, gradually rebuilt his advantage and imposed his own pace.

The breakthrough came in the tenth round. “Diablo” took advantage of the moment of inattention of his rival and inflicted a powerful left hook, which sent Balski to the mat. The referee had no doubts – the fight was stopped and the belt went into the hands of the veteran. The fighter triumphed for the 65th time in his professional career, 44 of them by knockout.

I came back from hell, but not to stop. I still have something to say in boxing,” said the emotional champion after the fight.

FAME gala episode

Just a few months earlier, in August 2024, Krzysztof Wlodarczyk was at the centre of a media fuss over his planned appearance at the FAME 22 gala. The federation announced his fight with Jaroslaw “pashabiceps” Jarzabkowski, but three days before the event Wlodarczyk was removed from the card. The reason was said to be his failure to appear at the mandatory press conference, which the organisers deemed unacceptable. The fighter himself explained the situation with preparations for future performances, but the matter caused a lot of controversy in the media.

The victory over Adam Balski shows that “Diablo” does not intend to end his career, but on the contrary, he counts again in serious competitions. Although the belt he won has the status of an interim champion, it opens the way to a clash for the full-fledged WBC title in a new weight category.

For Polish fans, it is not only a sporting success, but also an emotional story of comeback, determination and overcoming adversity. Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk showed that in boxing – as in life – you must never give up.
