Due to her father’s work in the army, the family moved frequently, living in Italy and Germany, among other places. After her parents divorced in 2011, Lexy moved with her mother and siblings to Poland, where she settled by the sea.

A childhood marked by prejudice

In response to a question from a fan during a Q&A session,Lexy Chaplin admitted that she was challenged at school in Poland because of her skin colour. She experienced name-calling such as “Negro”, “dirty” and “Gypsy”.

‘It bothered me at the time, I was ashamed of my skin colour to the extent that I did everything I could to not get a tan, to be as white as possible, to blend in with the crowd,’ confessed Lexy.

The road to self-acceptance

Despite her difficult past experiences, Lexy Chaplin managed to accept herself and her appearance. Today, she proudly emphasises her roots and is not ashamed of her identity. ÒAnd today … Girl, I specifically want to be as dark as possible,” said the influencer, showing how far she has come in the direction of self-acceptance.
