Non-final judgement for Mamed Ch. Former KSW champion sentenced to 1.5 years in prison

The court found Mamed Ch. guilty of some of the offences with which he was charged

One of the key aspects of the proceedings concerned offences relating to vehicles obtained through theft or other criminal acts. According to the court’s findings, between 2016 and 2017, Mamed Ch. is alleged to have purchased or attempted to purchase such vehicles in Poland and the Czech Republic.

The case involved, amongst others, luxury cars: a BMW M6 GT, a Porsche Panamera and a BMW 750 xDrive. For some of the offences relating to handling stolen goods, the court imposed prison sentences and heavy fines.

A separate strand of the case concerned the arson of cars

The court also ruled on the destruction of two vehicles in Rybnik in April 2017. This involved the arson of a BMW and a Volkswagen Polo belonging to the victims.

According to the court’s findings, Mamed Ch. directed the actions leading to the destruction of the cars. For this offence, he was sentenced to an additional six months’ imprisonment.

The judgement also included a section concerning police officers

Another part of the case related to events in October 2018 in Olsztyn. The court found that, during operations connected with the arrest of another person, the physical integrity of a police officer had been violated.

A fine of 70,000 zł was imposed for this offence. The player was also convicted of insulting police officers, for which a further fine of 35,000 zł was imposed.

Total sentence: 18 months’ imprisonment and a fine of 280,000 zł

After combining the individual sentences, the court sentenced Mamed Ch. to one year and six months’ imprisonment. The fine was set at 400 daily rates of 700 zł each, totalling 280,000 zł.

The financial consequences of the judgement do not end there. The court ordered the convicted man to compensate the owners of the burnt-out cars for their losses: Krzysztof B. is to receive 30,000 zł, and 25,000 zł to Andrzej P. In addition, 2,000 zł in compensation was awarded to the police officer whose personal integrity had been violated.

At the same time, Mamed Ch. was acquitted of the charge of possessing a firearm without the required licence. The verdict is not yet final.

The case was part of a much larger investigation

Mamed Ch.’s trial was linked to a wide-ranging investigation into a group of individuals suspected of various types of offences. Investigators looked into, amongst other things, the trafficking of stolen cars, the circulation of counterfeit euro banknotes, as well as economic offences and property crimes.

The indictment against Mamed Ch. and 17 other individuals was brought before the court by the Silesian branch of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office. The defendants were charged with a total of 140 offences. These include, amongst others, offences relating to counterfeit euros and the handling of stolen cars, including luxury vehicles, originating from crimes committed outside Poland.

A total of 24 people have faced charges throughout the proceedings

The case dates back to 2017 and an investigation conducted in Slovakia. The investigation was subsequently taken over by Polish law enforcement agencies, and in 2018 it was transferred to the Silesian branch of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In the course of the operation, eight stolen cars were recovered, with a total estimated value of around 1.2 million zlotys. According to earlier information from the National Public Prosecutor’s Office, charges in the case were brought against 24 people. Some of the suspects admitted to the offences and requested that they be sentenced without a trial.
