The incident took place on Thursday at around 7.30pm to 8pm near Vogla Street in Warsaw’s Wilanów district. Agnieszka Warchulska, known for her roles in TV series and films, among others, was jogging when she was attacked by a group of young boys.

‘I was just thrown at full force with stones and eggs by teenagers passing by on scooters and bicycles… One of these stones flew past my head,’ she wrote in an emotional post on Instagram.

Although the actress was not seriously physically injured, the situation itself caused her severe shock. As she pointed out, she was all dirty with eggs, but she was most affected by the “gratuitous hatred” from the youth.

Where did the attack take place? Wilanów not so safe?

Wilanów is regarded as one of the most prestigious and peaceful districts in Warsaw. It is all the more shocking that such an aggressive act of violence took place there. Warchulska explained that she had changed her daily running route because of wild boars – and it was on an alternative path that she encountered an aggressive group of teenagers.

Who were the attackers? “Kids from good homes”.

Warchulska noted that the perpetrators were travelling on privately-owned, jacked-up scooters and high-end bicycles. In her opinion, they may have come from so-called good homes. During the attack, they shouted, among other things, “Die s…!” or “J… her!”, which further emphasises the level of brutality of the whole situation.

Has the case reached the police?

The Warsaw II District Police Station confirmed that officers have knowledge of the incident, although at the time of publication no official notification had been received from the victim. A police spokeswoman encouraged Warchulska to report the case so that it could be formally investigated.

Agnieszka Warchulska is one of the most recognisable figures in Polish cinema and theatre. She graduated from the State Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw and her career includes roles in both television and film and stage productions. Although she usually shies away from sensationalism, this time she decided to publicly describe a traumatic experience to draw attention to the problem of increasing violence in the public space.

Public concern and unanswered questions

The incident involving Agnieszka Warchulska has moved not only the acting community but also public opinion. There is increasing talk of disrespect for others, aggression among young people and the need to prevent violence – including seemingly ‘innocent’ violence. Are parents aware of what their children are doing? Do young people have enough empathy and responsibility? And above all: how to effectively counteract similar attacks in the future?
