Eurovision 2024 is fast approaching and the question of who will represent Poland is generating growing excitement. In the latest edition of "Questions for Breakfast". TVP made an important decision regarding the preselection, shedding light on the mystery of choosing our representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Eurovision 2024 preselection – behind the scenes of the selection of the Polish representative

The preselection season is underway. More countries are announcing their candidates or dates for the Eurovision pre-selection. The preselection stakes have been announced by Latvia, among others, and Albania has announced a candidate for the crystal microphone after the Festivali and Këngës finals. It could also be interesting to see the stakes of the Melodi Grand Prix and who will fight to repeat the success of Alessandra and the song `Kings and Queens’. Poland has so far kept secret what steps it will take in the context of selecting an artist who will have the chance to appear in the white and red colours at Eurovision 2024. A week ago, TVP intrigued fans with a mysterious announcement on social media, promising important information. So what has happened?

Internal pre-selection

The eagerly awaited announcement came in last week’s edition of `Questions for Breakfast’. The Polish representative for Eurovision 2024 will be chosen through an internal preselection. This means that artists have the chance to submit their songs to Polish Television and a special committee, operating behind closed doors, will make the selection. The deadline for entries is 2 February at 22:00.

Eurovision pre-selection rules

The pre-selection regulations, published by TVP, set out the basic rules. To participate, an artist must be at least 16 years old and a Polish citizen. Submitted songs must not exceed 3 minutes, must be original and premiere (publication after 1 September 2023). The composition of the committee selecting the Polish representative will be revealed in February.

Who deserves to represent Poland? Artists’ proposals

There is already speculation as to who might win the hearts of viewers at Eurovision 2024. Izabela Zabielska, a tiktoker, has expressed her desire to take part, presenting the song Nowhere To Go. Luna, representing alternative pop, is preparing a song called ‘The Tower’ for the contest. However, Justyna Steczkowska, who declared her intention to participate in the autumn, is making the most noise. Her Eurovision song ´WITCH-ER Tarohoro´ is already receiving positive reviews from foreign fans.

When is the Eurovision Song Contest?

The upcoming 68th Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted by Sweden, which became the host after Loreen’s victory the previous year.
