Piotr Lisiewicz may be dismissed from his position as chairman of the programme board of Radio Poznań. The journalist, who is also known for his work with Gazeta Polska and Telewizja Republika, has caused controversy with his comments on Jerzy Owsiak.

At the beginning of January, the editorial board of Radio Poznan appealed to the programme board to take action against Lisiewicz. The reason was his statements in Telewizja Republika, where he sharply criticised Jerzy Owsiak, describing him as, among others, “the worst hater of the Third Republic of Poland”, “a fabulist” and “a secular saint”. Will Piotr Lisiewicz be fired? Decision in the hands of the National Media Council

As Wirtualne Media reports, the National Media Council began the process of voting on Lisiewicz’s dismissal on Monday. The members of the body have two days to cast their votes and the final results should be known on Wednesday. The current composition of the National Media Council is Wojciech Król (chairman), Piotr Babinetz, Robert Kwiatkowski, Joanna Lichocka and Marek Rutka. Of the members of the previous composition, appointed by the Law and Justice party, only Lichocka retained her seat. The Council’s decision could have significant consequences for both Lisiewicz himself and the future of Radio Poznań. The final outcome of the vote will show whether the controversial statements will have an impact on the journalist’s further career.
