Joanna Kołaczkowska, one of the most recognisable figures on the Polish cabaret scene, is battling cancer. Members of Kabaret Hrabi, friends from the industry and fans are mobilising to support the artist at this difficult time.

Joanna Kołaczkowska, known to a wide audience as the charismatic member of Kabaret Hrabi, was diagnosed with cancer. The information about the artist’s state of health immediately circulated in the media, stirring up the fans and the artistic community. Kabaret Hrabi confirmed the sad news with an official announcement asking for support for “Aśka”, as she is called by her friends.

Despite the difficult situation, Kabaret Hrabi has not interrupted its scheduled tour. The performances are held with the participation of befriended artists – including Hanna Śleszyńska, Maciej Stuhr and Artur Andrus. The proceeds from the concerts go towards the treatment of Joanna Kołaczkowska. This is an extraordinary gesture of solidarity and proof that the ‘count’s’ ties go far beyond the stage.

In the face of illness, support for Kołaczkowska is pouring in from all over Poland. Artur Andrus, a long-time friend of the cabaret artist, emphasises how important Joanna is:

Words of encouragement also come from fans and colleagues in the cabaret industry. Agnieszka Litwin of the cabaret “Koń Polski”, who herself has been struggling with cancer, expressed solidarity and hope for Kołaczkowska’s full recovery.

This is not the first time Joanna Kolaczkowska has confronted her illness. In the past, she struggled with melanoma, which led to severe carcinophobia. The artist spoke openly about her fear, depression and trauma after the diagnosis, but also about the tremendous support of her loved ones, which allowed her to return to life. Unfortunately, today the struggle begins again.

Kabaret Hrabi appeals for support and peace for the artist

Kabaret Hrabi has asked fans for support – not only financially, but above all emotionally. In an official statement, the group asked to refrain from direct contact with the artist, stressing that Joanna now needs above all peace, quiet and time for convalescence.
