Kamila Urzędowska, known for her role as Jagna in the film "Chłopi", has been cast as Izabela Łęcka in the upcoming film adaptation of the novel "Lalka". by Bolesław Prus. The production, which includes both a cinema film and a TV series, will begin shooting in August 2025.

Kamila Urzędowska gained recognition from audiences for her role as Jagna in the animated film “Peasants”, for which she received the Crystal Star at the 2023 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, as well as nominations for the Eagles in the categories Best Lead Actress and Discovery of the Year. The actress emphasises that the role of Izabela Łęcka is not only a professional challenge for her, but also a fascinating journey into the depths of human emotions, dreams and dilemmas portrayed by Bolesław Prus in “Lalka”.

Production and cast

Producer Radosław Drabik expressed his delight at casting Kamila Urzędowska in the role of Izabela Łęcka, stressing that she was an ideal candidate for the role from the very beginning. It was previously announced that the role of Stanisław Wokulski will be played by Marcin Dorociński. The director of the production is Maciej Kawalski, and Piotr Sobociński jr. is responsible for the cinematography. The producers of the film and the series are Telewizja Polska and Gigant Films.

The role of Izabela Łęcka was previously played by Beata Tyszkiewicz in the 1968 film and Małgorzata Braunek in the 1977 TV series. Both actresses have become icons of Polish cinema.
