The newly elected presidential couple, Karol and Marta Nawrocki, have been generating a great deal of public interest since the beginning. However, their latest decision has caused quite a stir. Instead of moving into the Presidential Palace in the traditional way, they have chosen the... Belvedere. What is behind this decision and what does the President himself say about it?

The presidential palace? For now, no. Karol Nawrocki has chosen the Belvedere

Shortly after being sworn in on 6 August 2025, the media expected Karol and Marta Nawrocki to move into the Presidential Palace, like most of their predecessors. To everyone’s surprise – the couple decided to move into the Belvedere. The reason? As spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz explained, the main residence of the head of state requires renovation and modernisation, making it currently unsuitable for permanent residence.

Belvedere a presidential residence? Not for the first time

Although it may come as a surprise to many, Belweder has a long history as the residence of the head of state. Lech Wałęsa and Bronisław Komorowski, among others, have lived there. The residence is located in a prestigious part of Warsaw, surrounded by a park and secured with the utmost care. The presidential couple and their two daughters have spacious interiors and a garden at their disposal, and Marta Nawrocka herself has already had the opportunity to familiarise herself with the staff and surroundings.

Marta Nawrocka – First Lady with a mission and charisma

Even before the official start of her term, Marta Nawrocka had already made herself known as a determined and independent person. Instead of posing for photo shoots, she chose a family trip to the mountains, as well as a balloon flight over Kashubia – which gained the sympathy of many internet users. In interviews, she declares that she does not want to be a passive addition to the office of the president. Her goals are to support people with disabilities, fight against online hegemony, promote education and equal opportunities and support women in crisis.

Karol and Marta Nawrocki and their family

During the swearing-in ceremony, the attention of the media and viewers was also drawn to the younger daughter of the presidential couple – Kasia Nawrocka, who stole the hearts of thousands of Poles with her spontaneous dance with her mother. This gesture quickly went viral on social media and showed a completely new face of the presidency – closer to the family and the everyday life of citizens.

What next. Will the Nawrocki family stay at the Belvedere permanently?

Although the Belvedere is currently a temporary solution, there are many indications that Karol and Marta Nawrocki may commit to it for the long term. This place seems more family-oriented and intimate than the monumental Presidential Palace. The final decision will be made after the renovation of the main residence is completed.
