Lara Gessler speaks openly about her relationship with her stepmother: “I was a punching bag”.

Lara Gessler appeared as a guest on the podcast ‘Po macoszemu’, hosted by Kasia Gargol and Hanna Jewsiewicka. The star opened up for the first time about her complicated relationship with her father’s long-time partner Piotr Gessler after her divorce from Magda Gessler. Lara confessed that although she lived with her father after the divorce, from the beginning she did not feel accepted by her stepmother, who often directed insulting comments in her direction. As a result, she decided to leave the family home.

In her appearance on the podcast, Lara Gessler expressed that her stepmother saw her as a rival and perhaps envied the time she spent with her father. The

most important thing is not to get into any kind of competition. This is a different kind of love. What is universal is that time is needed for every relationship. It is necessary to let the father have time with his daughter. Then the daughter will not have the problem that the father also has time alone with his woman. If there are no deficits, then there is no resentment.

Lara Gessler revealed that she is now trying to understand why her stepmother treated her in such a way. Piotr Gessler’s partner really wanted to have children, which was not a priority for her partner.

In her defence, I have to say that I remember when she turned 30 and how she locked herself in the bathroom and cried because she probably wanted to have children. My dad already had two, so he didn’t want to go into this fatherhood further at all. I don’t know what the conversations were between them and the arrangements, but the result was that they were 14 years together without having a child.

Gessler also shared a sad story when her stepmother came home and saw her sitting in her seat. She then said to Peter Gessler and his daughter: ‘

I see that even here you have taken my place. Maybe you will still start sleeping with her?

The unpleasant words explored in Lara’s direction repeatedly. In the interview, she emphasised that she felt these negative emotions when visiting her father and stepmother, but they had a deeper basis.

I was a punching bag, because there was a growing frustration in their relationship. (…) It was mainly frustration stemming from my father not giving her what she expected and what, perhaps, they had agreed on. I remember writing letters to her, leaving them on her pillow. (…) I wanted her to accept me and my relationship with my dad,” the celebrity added. It all comes from disturbed expectations, so I think it can be sorted out. Unfortunately, a very big role is played here by my father, who was also not taught by anyone how to deal with such a situation. My dad is one hundred per cent withdrawal.
