Marcin Dorociński has taken the world by storm. His new film is number one in over 100 countries

In *Duet of Disaster*, Marcin Dorociński stars alongside two global film stars. Ryan Reynolds plays the American pilot Troy Kelly, whilst Kenneth Branagh plays the former KGB agent Nikolai Ustinov.

The film is set during the Cold War. An American pilot’s secret mission on Soviet territory ends in disaster. The protagonist, played by Reynolds, must find a way to escape from behind enemy lines, and is aided by Branagh’s character.

Standing in their way is Aleksander Volkov, played by Marcin Dorociński. He is a ruthless Russian agent and the main villain of the story. He is therefore not a character who merely appears on screen for a few moments. The Polish actor has been given a substantial role and several major scenes.

Marcin Dorociński’s performance has not gone unnoticed abroad either. Reviewers point out that the actor has managed to create an antagonist who is more interesting than the stereotypical Russian villains familiar from action films.

According to a ‘Variety’ critic, Dorociński imbued his character with greater intelligence and nuance. Other reviewers emphasised that Aleksander Wołkow remains a truly fearsome adversary for the main characters.

The scale of the production’s success is impressive. According to figures cited by *Rzeczpospolita*, the film was trending in 101 countries and topped the charts in many of the largest markets. This means that Marcin Dorociński’s name could reach yet another huge audience abroad.

The film was directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, filmmakers known, amongst other things, for the film “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”. This time, they opted for a blend of action cinema, a buddy comedy and a story set against the backdrop of the Cold War.

“Disaster Duo” is not Marcin Dorociński’s first major international project. The Polish actor previously appeared, amongst other roles, in the highly acclaimed Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit”, where he played the Russian grandmaster Vasily Borgov.

He has also appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” with Tom Cruise, and in the series “Vikings: Valhalla”.

However, this new production stands out due to the scale of his role. In *Catastrophe in Duet*, Dorociński features alongside Reynolds and Branagh as one of the film’s leading actors, and his character directly drives the plot.

The actor’s high-profile projects do not end there. On 28 September 2026, Marcin Dorociński is set to appear on the big screen as Stanisław Wokulski in a new film adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s *The Doll*.

The cast also includes, amongst others, Marek Kondrat, Agata Kulesza, Andrzej Seweryn, Kamila Urzędowska and Maria Dębska.

Autumn 2026 could therefore prove to be an exceptionally busy time for Dorociński. First, global success alongside Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, and shortly afterwards, one of the most iconic characters in Polish literature.
