Marta Nieradkiewicz discovered the lump on her birthday

In March 2026, Marta Nieradkiewicz publicly announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Known for her roles in productions such as ‘Płynące wieżowce’, “Lęk” and “Wielka woda”, the actress is currently undergoing cancer treatment. A few months after revealing her illness, she decided to speak more openly about her diagnosis, the emotions she experienced and the changes that have taken place in her life. The first worrying sign appeared unexpectedly. The actress noticed a change in her breast after getting out of the bath. That same evening, she was due to go to the opera with director Anna Jadowska, to whom she showed the suspicious area.

At first, Marta Nieradkiewicz tried to stay calm and assumed that the situation might not be anything serious. The actress also admitted that she had discovered the change on her birthday.

However, after visiting the doctor, a long diagnostic process began. The actress underwent an ultrasound scan, biopsies and further tests. The period of waiting for the results proved particularly difficult, during which hope mingled with fear.

Marta Nieradkiewicz had to prepare herself for several months of treatment

The news about the planned course of treatment was an enormous burden for the actress. She learnt that she would have to undergo, amongst other things, chemotherapy, a mastectomy and radiotherapy. The treatment was set to last not just a few weeks, but many months.

From the very beginning, Marta Nieradkiewicz realised that, as well as her physical condition, she also had to look after her mental wellbeing. That is why she sought the support of a psycho-oncologist, who helped her navigate the successive stages of treatment and cope with the anxiety caused by the diagnosis.

Marta Nieradkiewicz came to terms with the changes in her appearance

One of the defining moments was the loss of her hair. Previously, the illness had remained part of the actress’s private experience, but the effects of chemotherapy meant it became visible to others as well.

Nieradkiewicz decided to prepare herself gradually for this change. First, she cut her hair short, in an attempt to regain a sense of control over the situation. As she explained:

As she emphasised, she is now more interested in how one should live than in seeking answers to the question of the meaning behind all events.

Despite her ongoing treatment, the actress is not giving up on her plans and dreams. She remains hopeful about the future and is open to new experiences, including in her personal life.
