Influencer Olga Legosz, known for addressing controversial topics on social media, this time chose to respond to an Instagram post by Szymon Holownia, the Speaker of the Sejm. In an emotional comment that won the appreciation of the audience, Legosz expressed her outrage at the hypocrisy of alcohol sales in Poland. She stressed that the fight against alcohol should not only include new products resembling children's mousses, but also hit other forms of alcohol sales, including beer, which is sold by the millions every day.

Influencer scores on beer advertising problem

In response to a post by Holownia, who criticised alcohol producers for packaging ‘poison’ in sachets that look like children’s mousses, Olga Legosz pointed out that the problem is much wider. While she agreed that alcohol in any edition is an “evil”, she reminded of the daily statistics on the sale of monkeys and beer.

“Dear Mr Speaker, absolutely alcohol is an evil, but I would like to remind you that in PL we sell 1 million monkeys and 9 million bottles of beer every day, so it is also worth, while fighting the blade, not to forget the beam in the eye. Stop advertising any alcohol, including beer,”

she wrote.

Significant support from internet users

Olga Legosz’s comment was met with considerable support from internet users. Many agreed with her approach, noting that beer advertising in Poland is still too visible and socially acceptable, despite the harmfulness of alcohol. Legosz, known for her fight against alcohol advertising, is not the first time she has provoked discussions on the subject – in the past she has actively criticised the links between the funding of sports activities for children and the profits from beer advertising.

Olga Legosz: an influential voice in the fight against alcohol advertising

Olga Legosz, whose posts regularly touch on social responsibility and the impact of alcohol on health, is gaining recognition as an influential activist. Earlier, in an emotional post, she criticised alcohol advertising practices in Poland, including the funding of youth sports through beer advertising profits. Her comments to Szymon Holownia only reinforced this message, stressing that the fight against alcohol should not be limited to niche products, but should encompass the entire problem, including the ubiquitous advertising of beer.

Will the influencer’s criticism contribute to a greater discussion on alcohol advertising and related social problems? Olga Legosz certainly does not intend to remain silent on the issue, and her growing voice of support may influence real changes in Polish law.
