Poland’s First Lady. Poles have chosen the best one since 1989

Who has left the strongest impression on Poles as Poland’s First Lady? The latest poll has produced an exceptionally clear result. Jolanta Kwaśniewska received 60.5 per cent of the votes, leaving the other presidents’ wives far behind. Interestingly, the current First Lady, Marta Nawrocka, came in only third place.

The survey results also show that support for Jolanta Kwaśniewska is not limited solely to voters on one side of the political divide. The former First Lady also has supporters among those who declare their support for opposition parties.

Poland’s best first lady? Jolanta Kwaśniewska wins by a clear margin

The United Surveys by IBRiS poll, conducted for Wirtualna Polska, focused on the assessment of first ladies since 1989. Respondents were asked to name the woman who, in their opinion, had performed best in this role.

The result was very clear-cut. Jolanta Kwaśniewska received 60.5 per cent of the votes. Maria Kaczyńska came second with 11.3 per cent, whilst third place went to Marta Nawrocka, who was chosen by 8.4 per cent of those surveyed.

The gap between first and second place is therefore as much as 49.2 percentage points. This illustrates the scale of the lead held by the wife of former President Aleksander Kwaśniewski over the other candidates.

For Poland’s current First Lady, Marta Nawrocka, this is the first widely discussed ranking of its kind covering her time in office. The wife of President Karol Nawrocki has held the role of First Lady since 2025. The President’s official website notes that prior to this, she spent 18 years working for the Customs Service and the National Revenue Administration.

In the poll, she secured 8.4 per cent of the vote, placing her on the podium – behind Jolanta Kwaśniewska and Maria Kaczyńska.

Outside the top three, the results were significantly lower. Agata Kornhauser-Duda received 2.4 per cent of the votes, whilst Danuta Wałęsa received 1.8 per cent. Anna Komorowska received no votes at all.

At the same time, 6 per cent of respondents said that none of the women listed deserved to be called the best first lady. A further 9.6 per cent of those surveyed were unable to make a choice.

The ranking is therefore as follows:

4. Agata Kornhauser-Duda – 2.4 per cent
5. Danuta Wałęsa – 1.8 per cent

Jolanta Kwaśniewska is even more popular than Aleksander Kwaśniewski

The results take on added significance in the light of a similar survey concerning Polish presidents since 1989. In that survey, Aleksander Kwaśniewski also came first, but received 44.7 per cent of the votes. His wife therefore achieved a result 15.8 percentage points higher in the ranking of first ladies.

In the ranking of presidents, Lech Kaczyński came second behind Aleksander Kwaśniewski with 14.2 per cent, followed by Karol Nawrocki with 12.3 per cent.

Who is Poland’s current First Lady?

Marta Nawrocka, the wife of President Karol Nawrocki, currently holds the position of First Lady of Poland. She was born on 7 March 1986 in Gdynia. She studied at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk and worked for 18 years in the Customs Service and the National Revenue Administration.

Marta and Karol Nawrocki have been married since 22 May 2010 and are raising three children: Daniel, Antoni and Katarzyna.

Survey of Poland’s first ladies. When was the survey carried out?

The United Surveys by IBRiS poll for Wirtualna Polska was carried out on 24–25 July 2026 on a representative sample of 1,000 people. Respondents were surveyed using a mixed-method approach, combining CAWI (Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing) and CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing).

The result leaves little room for doubt: more than three decades after Aleksander Kwaśniewski took office as president, it is Jolanta Kwaśniewska who remains, for the majority of respondents, the best First Lady of Poland since 1989. Her 60.5 per cent of the vote gives her a lead that none of her rivals in this survey even came close to matching.
