During an interview with Krzysztof Stanowski on Channel Zero’s programme, the main topic of which was the upcoming presidential election, an unusual event took place. Slawomir Mentzen, known for his strong statements, this time was asked to… preparing scrambled eggs. It all started with a mysterious announcement by a journalist:

Now it’s time for our surprise. I hope we are ready to bring it here.

A portable induction hob, a frying pan and all the ingredients needed to prepare the breakfast dish were brought into the studio. The whole thing was a reference to Mentzen’s statement from Platform X, where he admitted that he doesn’t do well in the kitchen.

‘These are two completely different things’ – Mentzen in the heat of kitchen struggles

Although Slawomir Mentzen did not immediately show enthusiasm for the culinary challenge, he eventually decided to stand at the cooker.

Making good scrambled eggs and something that looks like scrambled eggs are two completely different things, as you will soon see – he said distantly.

Despite his initial uncertainty, the scrambled eggs turned out quite well, although the politician himself chose not to try it. Unlike the host, who was delighted:

A three-star hotel would be proud of it.

The moment the scrambled eggs were fried proved to be an internet hit. As many as 225,000 people were following the broadcast simultaneously, and Krzysztof Stanowski boasted about it on air. He also commented on the phenomenon of this situation:

You can see for yourself that substance does not sell as well as making a circus.

Mentzen agreed with him, although not without irony.

Culinary is not everything, however. The conversation also touched on Slawomir Mentzen’s avoidance of appearances on the TVN station. The politician surprised viewers by declaring his readiness to participate in the presidential debate on this station.

My proposal to journalists, employees, mediaworkers of TVN – if you organise a debate with Rafał Trzaskowski on your TVN channel, I would be willing to take part in such a debate on any day that does not interfere with my rallies – said the candidate.

He also added that he has no reservations about the presenters:

You can choose any leading pair you like. It can be Piotr Kraśko, it can be Monika Olejnik – I have no objections here.
