Polish culture has lost another legend. Wojciech Wiliński, star of 'Misia', 'Czterdziestolatka' and 'Klan', has died. The actor was 86 years old and for more than half a century appeared on stage and screen, winning the hearts of audiences.

Wojciech Wiliński is dead – the sad news has circulated the media and moved the artistic community. For years the actor was one of the recognisable faces of Polish cinema, theatre and television. Audiences remembered him for his roles in cult productions such as ‘Miś’, ‘Czterdziestolatek’ or the series ‘Klan’.

Although he often appeared in supporting roles, he was able to give his characters character and authenticity. Thanks to this, he went down in the audience’s memory as an actor of extraordinary stage charisma.

Wojciech Wiliński was born on 1 February 1940 in Warsaw. He came from a family with acting traditions – his parents were stage artists, which brought him into contact with the theatre from an early age.

He began his career at the end of the 1950s and performed in, among others, the Musical Theatre in Gdynia, and later he was also associated with Warsaw theatres, including the Syrena Theatre and the Jewish Theatre. It was with the latter theatre that he was associated for many years of his career.

The theatre was extremely important to him – it was there that he created many memorable stage creations and won the recognition of the audience.

Although he spent most of his career on the theatre stage, a wide audience knew him from films and TV series. It is thanks to these productions that Wojciech Wiliński’s name has become recognisable among many generations of viewers.
