Beata Pawlikowska, a well-known traveller and author of books, speaks openly after many years about her relationship with Wojciech Cejrowski. She recalls it as a difficult and toxic relationship that did not stand the test of time.

Love based on a passion for travel

Beata Pawlikowska and Wojciech Cejrowski met in 1993, working together at Radio Kolor, where they hosted the ‘Aeroplan’ travel programme. Their shared passion for exploring the world soon turned into a romance. In 1994, they got married in church, but failed to complete the civil formalities, making them never married in the eyes of the law. After their separation, their relationship was annulled by the bishop’s court.

Disrespect and frequent arguments

Years later, Pawlikowska admitted that their relationship was not successful.

It was not a good relationship. We didn’t like each other, we weren’t friends. I didn’t like his controversial TV show because I completely disagreed with his views, he hated my books, especially the ones about life. We fought, slammed doors, parted ways, came back, ” she recalled in an interview with Viva!

Toxic relationship and decision to break up

The traveller described their relationship as “a kind of bondage”, in which feelings of love and dislike mixed together.

We flit between resentment, love, guilt and duty. Once we love each other, then we slam the door. This is not good love. It is a kind of bondage. It was honest to admit it and walk away,” she confessed.

No resentment and gratitude for learning

Despite her difficult experiences, Beata Pawlikowska indicated that she does not hold a grudge against her ex-husband.

I will always respect Wojtek,” she stressed.

She added that the separation allowed her to get to know herself better and understand what she expects from a relationship.

It’s sad to hear that even a love for travel couldn’t save their marriage.

I wonder if their differences in opinions were what ultimately led to their breakup.

Such a shame that a shared passion couldn’t keep them together in the end.

It takes a lot of courage to admit when a relationship is not working, even if it’s based on love for travel.

Their story just proves that sometimes love is not enough to make a relationship work.
