After many years of an acting career, Cezary Żak has decided to publicly share his feelings about professional burnout. The actor, known for his numerous roles in popular television productions, confessed that he already feels tired of what he does.

Career and Successes

Cezary Żak, one of Poland’s best-known actors, has gained recognition for his roles in cult TV series such as Miodowe lata and Ranczo. He made his debut at the Współczesny Theatre in Wrocław, winning several prestigious awards early in his career.

Private life

In 1985, Żak married a fellow student, actress Katarzyna Żak, with whom he has two daughters, Ola and Zuzanna. The couple is regarded as one of the most compatible in the acting industry, although there has been speculation about their possible break-up. However, the actors downplay these rumours, claiming that they are irrelevant to them.

Cezary Żak and professional burnout

In a recent interview with Gazeta Wyborcza, Cezary Żak confessed that after almost forty years of work he has had enough of acting. Over the years, he played mainly in comedies, which made him feel professional burnout. He also noticed that audiences in Poland are becoming less demanding, which has contributed to the shallowness of entertainment culture.

I have been acting for almost 40 years

now.

To be honest with you, I’m a bit fed up with acting (…) The problem is that I’ve been playing comedies all my life. And something is burning out in me. Not only in me, in comedy in general. Audiences have changed in Poland, they are less demanding. I blame television, its the last 20-25 years. It has made our sense of humour very shallow. And it has reduced the demand for high quality comedy,” he explained. (…) Sometimes I long for more serious roles. As soon as I get such an offer, I throw myself at it.

Seeking new challenges

Despite his fatigue, Żak is still looking for new acting challenges. Sometimes he longs for roles of greater dramatic weight and waits for proposals that will allow him to play in more serious productions. He also mentioned his participation in Maciej Pieprzyca’s series Go Then Brother, in which he plays a serious gangster. This series is scheduled to premiere on the Netflix platform.
