The singer is back in the spotlight after the premiere of the documentary series DODA, which appeared on Prime Video in February. The production showed not only the behind-the-scenes of her career, but also the more private side of the artist’s life, including an accounting of past relationships and issues that have left a clear mark on her.

In her interview with Pudelk, Doda did not shy away from topics that have been stirring up emotions for years. She referred both to the subsequent controversies surrounding her person and to disputes with other well-known names. She also mentioned court cases, which, as she herself admitted, sometimes end up in her favour and sometimes not.

Doda has learnt from her past mistakes

One of the strongest themes of the interview was the star’s emotional life. Doda stressed that she has consciously not shown her relationship in public for two years and does not intend to reveal the details of her new relationship online. At the same time, she made it clear that her heart is no longer free.

I will never in my life enter into a partnership with my husband. I will never in my life enter into a relationship without loyalty. That was my mistake, for so many years. Now I have a signed one,” the artist revealed when discussing the lessons learned from her failed relationships with Emil Stępień and Dariusz Pachut.

The singer also talked about how today she separates her stage persona from the private version of herself. She admitted that when she addresses issues that are important and really affect her, she relies on honesty and authenticity. However, when pure entertainment is involved, she looks at it differently.

If we’re talking about serious topics, topics that affect me, that are also relevant to society, that can make a difference, then I peel myself away from that stage creation and try to be serious and also have a lot of truth, authenticity in me. But when we go into entertainment typically, why look for the truth there? This is showbiz,” admitted the artist.

A candid confession about the past. Very personal words were spoken

The interview was also full of more intimate reflections. Doda admitted that in her youth she experimented with sexuality, and her first partner was a girl. As she explained, she matured into male-female relationships later than many of her peers.

I matured into male-female communication much later than my female peers. I don’t know why. Maybe because I’m privately quite conservative and I reflect that on stage, where I’m automatically at the other extreme,” she said.

The artist also touched on her family and how loved ones react to the subsequent media storms. She admitted that her parents are very worried about her, although they are aware that a lot of information about her is sometimes twisted or presented in an incomplete way. She also stressed that she has clear boundaries in her family relationships and that the bond with her father remains extremely important to her.

Doda revisits high-profile conflict with Wozniak-Starak

One of the most heavily commented parts of the interview was the return to her former clash with Agnieszka Wozniak-Starak. Doda admitted that that situation brought her a lot of relief after the affair was over, while stressing that she had done a lot to prevent such an ending.

It was not strictly an assault, because I would have had a sentence because of that. The case was dropped, while it gave me a great sense of relief. I did a lot of work to prevent it from happening,” said the artist.

Reminiscing about the former programme “On the Tongue”, the singer did not hide the fact that she was particularly hurt by situations in which her family was also the object of ridicule. She even recalled the petitions created in her defence, which had thousands of signatures, although they did not ultimately change the course of events. Doda also pointed out that reconciliation would only be possible in one case – if there was an apology directed at her mum.

Did Steczkowska get a ricochet? Doda says otherwise today

The artist also returned to the memorable argument with Justyna Steczkowska from the time of the programme “Gwiazdy tańczą na lodzie”. Although the conflict lived a life of its own for years and turned into an internet meme, today Doda looks at that situation with more detachment.

We reconciled a long time ago. I think she got a ricochet after the situation with Edyta Górniak in `Star Rank’, in which they laughed at me. In my bitterness, I blamed Justyna too much, who was not the initiator,” she noted, adding that they reconciled before the Artists Against Hate concert in 2019.

Magda Gessler and a sharp exchange of words. For Doda, one thing matters

The topic of Magda Gessler, with whom Doda was also at odds, also came up in the conversation. The star referred to the restaurateur’s words, who suggested that her actions on behalf of homeless dogs could be image-based. For the singer, however, the most important thing was something completely different.

For me, the most important thing is that next time someone will think twice if they want to spoil actions with animals. At the moment, the most important thing for me is the animals,” she stressed.

It seems that Doda no longer intends to pretend that the past does not exist. Instead, she is openly talking about it, setting her own rules and making it clear that today she wants to play the game primarily on her own terms.
