Modesty in Poznanian style – family values influence Dominika Kulczyk’s career

Dominika Kulczyk successfully retained the title of the richest Polish woman according to the Wprost ranking in April 2023. Although her wealth is impressive, the story of her upbringing is surprising. In interviews, she has repeatedly stressed that her parents, Jan Kulczyk and Malgorzata Kulczyk, taught her “modesty after Poznań”. In the 1980s, mandarins were in the Kulczyk household, but children were not allowed to take them to school to avoid upsetting others. Dominika Kulczyk was brought up in the spirit of modesty, which contrasts surprisingly with her current wealth.

In the shadow of wealth – the price of success for the Kulczyk family

The Kulczyk family, despite their enormous wealth, have always tried to remain in the shadows. Before Jan Kulczyk won the title of Poland’s richest man, his wife was concerned about the family’s perception of being in the limelight. Dominika Kulczyk says that her father was beginning to be associated with wealth, which changed the perception of the whole family. Nevertheless, Kulczyk successfully manages the inherited wealth, holding the positions of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kulczyk Holding and Polenergia S.A.. However, their family history, shows that success and wealth also bring some challenges.

Business and charity – Dominika Kulczyk in two roles

After her father’s death in 2015, Dominika took over part of his estate. Within a few years she managed to multiply it significantly, now estimated at PLN 9 billion. The Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Kulczyk Holding and Polenergia S.A. not only develops business ventures, but also engages in charitable activities. She runs the Kulczyk Foundation, which emphasises her commitment to social issues. Kulczyk proves that it is possible to combine business success with caring for others.
