The garden as a place to relax

Despite almost 60 years on stage, the queen of Polish song, Maryla Rodowicz, still impresses with her energy and has no thoughts of retirement. She gives regular concerts and has no plans to slow down even during the holidays. In an interview with “Fakt”, the artist confessed that her favourite place to relax is her own garden: ”

I’m not likely to have a holiday, I’m going to work, work, work. I’m not going anywhere, but I’ll admit that if I’m going to relax, it’s only in my garden. It’s the best place for me. My garden is the best, when I look at my trees I relax and I’m happy.

Difficulties with holiday trips

The artist stresses that recognition and popularity are a hindrance to finding a quiet holiday destination. Maryla admits that she feels uncomfortable both at the Baltic Sea and in foreign resorts, because someone always recognises her.

I am too recognisable, finding a place at the Baltic Sea where there are no people is impossible. And being in well-known resorts is embarrassing. It wouldn’t be a holiday. I wouldn’t be able to relax feeling like I was being watched. Even a trip abroad doesn’t guarantee me intimacy. Poles are travelling, they are everywhere now,” admitted Rodowicz.

Faced with these difficulties, Maryla Rodowicz finds solace in her own garden. She relaxes best on the terrace, with a book in hand and surrounded by greenery.
