Honorata Skarbek experienced an unexpected incident during a fare ordered via an app. After a few tens of seconds on the phone with the taxi driver, the artist left the vehicle with indignation and complained. She reported the whole situation on social media, making no secret of her frustration.

Conflict in the car – what really happened?

Honorata, freshly back from Greece, ordered a ride in Warsaw during a busy working day. Already in the middle of a business call from the phone, the driver was resentful:

I got into this Uber, all the while talking on the phone…. after 15 seconds… he said: ‘You’re in a taxi, please don’t yell on the phone and let the driver concentrate on driving.

The artist calmed down the conversation but asked why she couldn’t continue:

I stiffened…. I asked the taxi driver if he was making a joke…. he told me that it was his car, his rules and he did not wish passengers to talk on the phone while driving.

Honorata Skarbek got off after 500 metres

After only half a kilometre, Honorata decided to stop the course:

I slammed the door, shouted to him further on my way out that I did not feel like continuing to drive with such a simpleton…. I wrote a complaint… Of course I got an apology and a refund, but that’s not the point at all.

Driver versus passenger

Skarbek stressed that the conversation had a calm tone and a high culture of speech, but it was a reason for the taxi driver to make a categorical comment. After the incident, the star notes the problem is wider than a single fare – she wonders why these situations happen at all. What do you guys think about this situation? Who was right: the driver or the passenger?

I can’t believe the nerve of that taxi driver! If I were Honorata, I would have done the same thing. Safety first, but respect is also important.

I think both sides could have handled the situation better. Communication is key in these types of conflicts.

The entitlement of some drivers is unbelievable. Honorata did the right thing by standing up for herself.

I understand the driver’s concern for safety, but there are better ways to communicate that without being rude.

As a passenger, I would expect basic courtesy from the driver. It’s a service industry, after all.

I feel bad for Honorata having to deal with such unprofessional behavior. The driver should be more respectful.

It’s important for both parties to respect each other’s boundaries. Hopefully, they both learned something from this experience.

The driver should have politely asked Honorata to end her call instead of making a scene. Communication is key.

I can see both perspectives, but ultimately, safety should always come first in a moving vehicle.

This situation could have been avoided with better communication and mutual respect. It’s a shame it escalated to this point.
