Jacek Borkowski returned to the subject of the annulment of his first church marriage years later. In this morning's TVN programme, the actor revealed the backstory of the process, including the surprising advice he gave to his ex-wife. "Write that I am gay". - was to suggest what he thought would make it easier to declare the marriage invalid.

Jacek Borkowski, who entered his fourth marriage in 2023, this time to Jolanta Poplawska, does not shy away from talking about his previous relationships. In one of his recent TV appearances, he mentioned the annulment of his first church marriage and revealed how he helped his ex-wife get the relevant documents.

“Write that I am gay” – unusual advice

During an interview on Good Morning TVN. Marcin Prokop touched on the actor’s former marriage. He mentioned that at one time the media had written about Borkowski’s alleged orientation, to which Borkowski replied with a smile:

It’s a funny story. My first wife really wanted to annul our church marriage and asked me how to do it. I told her: “Write that I am gay, they will definitely give you a divorce”

The actor stressed that this was only a humorous statement, which was apparently taken very seriously in the church process. The procedure ended in 2009 and Borkowski was finally notified of the outcome.

Curial notice and distance from rumours

Years later, the actor received an official letter from the curia, which he confirmed in an interview:

I got a notice from the curia that something had happened. It seems that my suggestion actually helped. Because that kind of rules it out, doesn’t it? – he commented with an ironic smile.

When asked by Marcin Prokop if the story was true, he replied evasively:

And think what you want. I am immune to heckling, everything has already been written about me. The important thing is that they are still interested in me, because when they stop, it will be a sign that this is the end.
