Jan Englert, one of the most famous faces of Polish cinema and theatre, has openly confessed that he regrets not supporting his wife, Beata Ścibakówna, in her acting career.

Englert, who has been artistic director of the National Theatre since 2003, has created memorable film and theatre roles over the years. Despite such a large role in the community, he decided not to help his wife get roles. In an interview, Beata Ścibakówna admitted that although she was married to an influential actor and head of the National Theatre, she did not receive support from him in finding work. Englert explained his decision by saying that he wanted to avoid Beata being seen as an actress who only gets roles because of him. Although this decision was intended to protect her artistic development, Englert now admits that he has some remorse about it. ‘

Today I even regret a little that I did not support her, because she probably could have played more roles, but nevertheless reason says that it is good that I did not. She achieved everything without my participation,” the actor stressed in an interview with PAP.

This surprising insight into the private life of one of the most important actors in Polish cinema shows how difficult it is to find a balance between supporting loved ones and preserving their independence and integrity. In the end, despite the lack of support from her husband, Beata Ścibakówna could be proud of what she achieved on her own.
