Justyna Steczkowska took to the stage at the Forest Opera on the first day of this year’s Top of the Top Sopot Festival, which runs from 24 to 27 August. One of the evening’s highlights was the concert ‘Stanisław Soyka. Absolutnie’, organised in memory of the musician who had passed away a year earlier. The event was attended by many well-known Polish artists.

The special concert dedicated to Stanisław Soyka, who died on 21 August 2025, featured performances by, amongst others, Kayah, Natalia Szroeder, Ralph Kaminski, Czesław Mozil, Renata Przemyk, Kuba Badach, Zbigniew Zamachowski, Maciej Stuhr and Justyna Steczkowska. Members of the late artist’s family also appeared on stage.

Justyna Steczkowska provoked mixed reactions from the audience

The singer decided to perform the song ‘Uciekaj moje serce’. The song was originally sung by Seweryn Krajewski, but over time it also became part of Stanisław Soyka’s repertoire. This is precisely why the song was included in the programme for the evening, which served as a musical tribute to the artist.

The singer’s performance did not leave the audience indifferent. Although Justyna Steczkowska has long been appreciated for her distinctive voice and her own style of interpreting songs, this time not everyone was convinced by her version of the song.

Steczkowska criticised for her rendition of a well-known song

Comments regarding the performance of the song quickly began to appear on social media. Some internet users focused primarily on her articulation and interpretation of the composition. One commenter wrote:

I must have something wrong with my hearing, because I can’t make out the words.

Some viewers felt that the arrangement and performance were too far removed from the simplicity associated with the song. Among the opinions, there was also an exceptionally harsh assessment:
