Kasia Tusk, one of Poland's most recognisable lifestyle bloggers, has opened up about the difficulties of endometriosis. In a candid post, she admitted that for years she avoided discussing the disease in public, partly for fear of being misunderstood and unfavourable comments. Now, years later, she has decided to share her experiences and draw attention to changes in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis.

Kasia Tusk and her path to popularity

For years, Kasia Tusk has inspired thousands with her minimalist approach to fashion, interiors and daily rituals. The blog she founded, Make Life Easier, has become a place where she shares her thoughts, aesthetic lifestyle and advice. Although her work focuses on fashion and lifestyle topics, the blogger also occasionally touches on more personal issues. This time she decided to speak openly about her experience with endometriosis.

‘It’s hard to teach someone sensitivity through the screen’ – Kasia Tusk on reactions to her illness

In her post, the blogger mentioned that when she first opened up about endometriosis, she was met with dismissive comments.

“Today, probably half of the women in Poland have endometriosis”; “You just have a low pain threshold”; “That’s your beauty” – I remember reading such comments when I dared, in solidarity with another sick woman, to say that this (embarrassing?) problem also affects me” – she wrote.

She then decided that she would not enter into discussions and explain her situation to people who approached the subject without empathy.

At the time, I wondered whether I should cross another boundary of privacy and describe the scars on my abdomen and the whole range of moderately lovely symptoms/consequences of endometriosis in such a way that I would get understanding rather than condescending condescension from the person commenting. But then I preferred to let it go and not waste my time. It’s hard through a phone screen to teach someone sensitivity – she added.

Advances in diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis

Although people’s mentality hasn’t changed much, the blogger noted that there has been a lot of progress in terms of diagnosis and availability of specialised healthcare.

It’s been a few years since then and I think I can say that a lot has changed. No. Let’s not exaggerate! People’s mentality has remained the same and the heebie-jeebies have set up home for good, but when it comes to diagnostics, specialists and treatment procedures, the right steps have been taken – the blogger wrote.

Kasia also stressed that she was lucky to come across a doctor who quickly recognised her problem and provided the right help.

I have been very lucky in the past to come across a doctor, a woman whose insight and vast knowledge allowed me to quickly diagnose the problem – she added.

Kasia Tusk breaks the taboo

Although the topic of endometriosis is still not widely discussed, more and more women are choosing to speak publicly about their experiences, helping to create awareness of the disease. By sharing her story, Kasia Tusk shows the importance of support and understanding in such difficult situations. Although she has not previously chosen to publicly discuss the symptoms and effects of the disease, her latest post may help many women feel less alone in their struggle.
