Kayah has been regarded as an icon of Polish music for years, but privately she is going through an extremely painful time. In recent months, the artist lost her father, mother and beloved dog. In a candid interview, she confessed how she is coping with the loss and what this difficult year has taught her.

Kayah bids farewell to loved ones

In February, Kayah announced the death of her father. Her relationship with him had always been complicated, as she recounted in an interview with Elle magazine: ‘

My father didn’t love me. And I have carried this trauma inside me for years. I think the relationship with my parents is often at the root of my lack of self-acceptance. My father criticised me, he was even psychologically abusive.

A few months later, the artist had to face another blow – her mother, Krystyna, passed away.

“This year is not one of the easiest”.

On Instagram, the singer wrote about the painful losses that have fallen on her almost simultaneously:

My kind. This year has not been one of the easiest for me. I said goodbye to Grey, 5 days later to my dad and now to my mum. Goodbyes are difficult. Even on the platform, even though we know where the train is going. I try to face it. Especially meeting such a wonderful audience at concerts.

The singer stressed that contact with her fans gives her the strength to cope with the pain of losing her loved ones.

Kayah on looking into the darkness

In her latest interview with “Wprost”, the singer openly admitted that the last few months have been a time of extremely difficult learning for her:

A man with a broken heart learns to look darkness in the eyes.

She also mentioned that during her mother’s funeral, she emphasised her exceptional attitude towards people:

During the funeral, I said that my mother never, in any human…
