Monika Olejnik fights breast cancer

For years, Monika Olejnik has been considered an icon of journalism, asking politicians uncomfortable questions. Famous for her sharp tongue and love of fashion, the journalist shared a personal message with internet users about her health condition. In her Facebook and Instagram post, Olejnik announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had already undergone surgery, after which she is feeling well. “I heard the diagnosis – breast cancer,” Olejnik wrote. “Then I spent one of my weekends in hospital. After the operation it’s better, I’m taking on new challenges,” she added, describing her experiences over the past months. Later in the post, the TVN journalist appeals to her followers not to delay with regular check-ups and to take care of physical activity, which in her case played a key role in the fight against the disease.

I’m aware that millions of people in the world are going through bigger problems, but I ask you very much. Dear friends, get tested and don’t give up after tests. Please be active in sport. Prophylaxis and early detection of cancer can save lives,” Olejnik points out.

Olejnik’s post was followed by numerous voices of support from internet users and fellow journalists such as Aleksandra Kwaśniewska, Kayah, Natalia Kukulska and Anja Rubik, who expressed their solidarity and admiration for the journalist for her courage in sharing such a personal story.
