Since this morning, further searches and detentions have been underway for people who may be linked to the case of Kamil L., known online as Budda. According to findings by Wirtualna Polska, the detainees include Adam K., presenter of TVN Turbo, and several other youtubers. The detainees are to be taken to the National Prosecutor's Department in Szczecin, where interrogations will take place.

The investigation is gaining momentum

Information about the arrests has been confirmed unofficially by sources in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration and the Public Prosecution Service. Since this morning, officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of the police have been carrying out actions on behalf of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office. An official announcement on the case of Kamil L., known online as Budda, is awaited.

Who is Buddha and what is the case about?

Kamil L., known as Budda, was arrested by the CID in October 2024. By a decision of the District Court in Szczecin, the youtuber and four others, including his partner Aleksandra K., known as `Grazynka’, were placed in temporary custody for three months. They were initially to remain in custody until 11 January 2025, but before Christmas the prosecution decided to release them on financial bail. Budd had to pay two million zloty bail and his partner one million zloty.

Prosecution: charges relate to tax fraud and gambling

The investigation into Budda and his accomplices began after a report from the National Tax Administration, which suspected them of being part of an organised criminal group. According to investigators, the group was involved in defrauding VAT and organising illegal gambling on the internet. In the course of the proceedings, in cooperation with the General Inspector of Financial Information, more than PLN 90 million was secured on the bank accounts of persons connected with the group. Also confiscated were 51 cars with a total value exceeding PLN 38 million, real estate worth approximately PLN 30 million, as well as cash and gold bars.

Charges include money laundering

The National Public Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin charged Kamil L. and nine other persons with leading and participating in an organised criminal group. According to the investigators’ findings, the group was to engage in tax fraud, issuing false VAT invoices and money laundering. The criminals were to obtain financial benefits from the sale of lottery tickets and evade gambling regulations. In addition, according to the prosecution, the defendants created fictitious transactions and transferred funds between different accounts in order to conceal their true origin and enable their transfer abroad.

The case is still developing

The investigation into Buddha is ongoing and further arrests suggest that the prosecution is stepping up its action against the suspects. An official statement from the prosecutor’s office is expected to be released in the coming hours.
