Paulina Krupińska has been dividing her life between Warsaw and Zakopane for years. As someone who knows the reality of Podhale well, she makes no secret of the fact that prices in the mountain resort are getting higher and higher. In an interview with Plotek, she admitted that even she is surprised by the scale of the rises, which are affecting tourists and locals alike. According to her, for many people this may mean giving up holidays in the Polish mountains in favour of foreign travel

Warsaw and Zakopane – Paulina Krupińska’s two worlds

The TV presenter and her husband, Sebastian Karpiel-Bułecka, have been living between the two cities for years. They function professionally in the capital, while Zakopane is their place of rest and escape from the hustle and bustle of show business. It is also where they bring up their children, Antonina and Jędrzej. However, despite her attachment to the mountains, Krupińska does not hide the fact that the tourist popularity of the region has significantly influenced the level of prices, which in some cases reach astonishing values.

Prices in Zakopane are rising at an alarming rate

In an interview during the autumn frame of TVN, Krupińska was asked about prices in Zakopane. She admitted that oscypki for 20 zlotys arouse surprise in her, but at the same time she is aware of the market mechanisms that govern the local economy.

The prices are set above… I believe that if there is demand, there is supply. If someone wants to pay that much for it, they pay and benefit. Personally, I say that it is shocking that in Poland prices have risen so high and doubled in some places – she said.

Zakopane becoming less and less accessible for Poles?

According to Paulina Krupińska, high prices may discourage some tourists from choosing the Polish mountains as a holiday destination. More and more people are choosing to go abroad, where, at comparable costs, they can count on better conditions. However, as she noted, this does not mean that Zakopane will become deserted.

There are still a lot of tourists from abroad, especially from the Gulf countries, andmore and more people will be giving up travelling to Zakopane in favour of going abroad. During the summer there are a lot of people from the Arab Emirates. They can afford it. There are even cards in their language and restaurant signs – she added.

It’s a shame that more and more people are choosing to go abroad instead of visiting Zakopane. The local economy will suffer.

I hope that the authorities in Zakopane will address the issue of rising prices to keep the destination attractive for tourists.
