Piotr Polk from `Father Matthew’ emotionally about his battle with the disease: “I didn’t want to evoke pity”. Here’s how he functions after a kidney transplant

Piotr Polk is an acclaimed actor, known for many films and TV series. He has been seen in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List, Col. Steven Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List”, “Colonel Kwiatkowski”, and in the TV series: “Plebania”, “Samo życie”, “Mothers Wives and Mistresses”, “Ojciec Mateusz” and “Friends”. The last two roles brought him considerable popularity and definitely increased his fan base. However, no one was aware that Polk had been battling serious health problems for the past few years. He only spoke about these challenges a few months ago. In November of the previous year, he appeared on the Good Morning TVN programme. He was accompanied by Dr Jacek Bicki, who performed a kidney transplant. It was a so-called anticipatory transplantation, during which the actor was implanted with a third kidney. The

condition of my kidneys deteriorated very quickly, which put me against the wall when it came to dialysis,” said Piotr Polk.

Before that, Piotr Polk had been trying to recover for many months, but doctors were unable to make a definite diagnosis.

It was almost a two-year struggle to get back on my feet. This battle was between me and myself every morning to get out of bed. I felt that I was getting weaker and weaker and my body was getting more and more poisoned. It was a very hard time for me,” he revealed.
