Morgane Polanski, daughter of the famous director Roman Polanski and French artist Emmanuelle Seigner, is taking part in the film `The Partisian'. In the film, 30-year-old Morgane plays the fascinating role of Krystyna Skarbek. It will also see Piotr Adamczyk and other Polish and foreign actors.

Morgane Polanski was born on 20 January 1993. She is the daughter of acclaimed director Roman Polanski and renowned French actress Emmanuelle Seigner. Morgane is a graduate of the Drama Centre London and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Even as a young girl, she appeared in films, including “The Pianist” – a 2002 Polanski film, and in 2005’s “Oliver Twist”, another great work by her father. In recent years, she has played a number of roles in TV series such as ‘Vikings’ and ‘The French Dispatch’. Now she has starred in a Polish-British production of ‘The Partisan’. What is this project?

Krystyna Skarbek as the main character in a Polish-British film

What do Winston Churchill and Krystyna Skarbek have in common? Krystyna was a British intelligence agent during the Second World War. She was Churchill’s favourite and an effective agent, and her story was immortalised in the film. Morgane Polanski played the role of the ‘Polish James Bond’ and the film, The Partisan, was directed by James Marquand. Marquand, having seen the Viking series, knew that Morgane Polanski had to play the role of Christine. In response to questions about the nature of the film, Marquand stressed that it is not a war film, but a typical spy thriller.

It is first and foremost an anti-war film. It shows that even when a person is not crystalline himself, he can do a lot of good for the world. Christine’s life was so rich that it’s a ready-made film script, and in fact you could make a series about her,” he said in an interview with the British Poles website.

Marquand has known Krystyna Skarbek’s story since his childhood. His grandmother was Polish and it was from her that he learned about the story of the Polish agent. From his words, it seems that the creator of the James Bond spy novels was inspired by Krystyna’s character, among others.

I know for sure that Ian Flaming knew her personally and modelled several characters on her, including Vesper Lynd from Casino Royale, but he was not quite right, because it was the famous Polish agent who deserved the role of Bond,” he added.

Shooting for the film takes place in Poland, specifically in Bystrzyca Kłodzka in Lower Silesia, which was transformed into the French town of Crest. The film crew also visited Radkowskie Skały, where stunt scenes are shot. Pictures were also shot in Warsaw and Lublin. ‘The Partisan’ will star Polish actors Piotr Adamczyk, Agata Kulesza and foreign stars Malcolm McDowell, known from the legendary film ‘A Clockwork Orange’ (1971), or Frederick Schmidt, known from ‘The Alienist’ (2018), ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ (2018) or ‘Vendetta’ (2016). The Partisan is scheduled to premiere in 2024.
