Monika Olejnik shared her painful experience. By her own admission, she was in a relationship with a man who initially appeared to be a charming boyfriend. Unfortunately, reality soon verified this image and the violence she experienced had tragic consequences on her life. These memories, although painful, are an important reference point for her – she says she has managed to emerge from this difficult situation stronger and full of hope for the future.

The journalist talked about her experience when discussing Wojciech Smarzowski’s new production. As she herself admits, the screening of Dom Dobry was not easy for her:

At one point I couldn’t even breathe during the screening, because I also experienced violence (…). When I was 20, I married a lovely boy who was a few years older than me. Unfortunately, he beat me up twice and I called my parents that I had to go back. I took my teddy bear and came home. I had a divorce that cost me a lot, a divorce with proof of guilt,” she recounted.

A topic that needs to be addressed

Olejnik argues that the problem of domestic violence should not be underestimated. Often people who experience violence do not have the courage to speak out about it. This is why it is important that such stories are told in public – they help others who are experiencing similar traumas to understand that they are not alone and that there is a way out of every situation.
