Teresa Lipowska is an icon of M for Love. The actress expressed her dissatisfaction with the attitudes of her younger colleagues in the industry. Who did she have in mind?

Present in the film industry for seven decades, Teresa Lipowska is best known for her role as Barbara Mostowiak in the beloved Polish series M jak miłość. Despite her advanced age, she has no plans to retire for a well-deserved rest. The reason is her commitment and her unwillingness to rely solely on retirement.

Lipowska is a regular on film sets, attends industry events and gives numerous interviews in which she shares her story. In a recent interview for Plejad, she was asked about the secret to her good shape. The actress is convinced that it is the support of her loved ones and professional satisfaction that have been the key to her well-being.

You have to love life,’ she argues. It’s very difficult to do that, the conditions have to be favourable. I have never been very seriously ill. I experienced typical traumas – deaths of parents, husband, relatives, but fate spared me, for example I did not have a disabled child. I loved my family and my profession very much. That gave me the will to live. I always did everything at 200 per cent; I was wildly energetic, which I sucked out of my mother’s milk.

The discussion with the actress turned to the work ethos of the acting profession. Lipowska noted that the current times are more focused on financial gain than professional values. She also had some comments to make about younger stars who, according to the actress, often underestimate the experience of older colleagues. Lipowska revealed what annoys her most about the behaviour of younger actors on set.

When I point out to my younger colleagues the ethics of the profession, they look at me and think: ‗Limey’. We used to show the older actors respect, listen to their comments and accept them. Today that has changed. Today almost every youngster is wiser. He comes to the set late, he doesn’t care that others are waiting,” she assessed.
