Family trip turns into a problem

Klaudia Halejcio, who is active on social media every day, often shares her experiences. This time on a flight, she turned her attention to a family with a newborn baby and a little boy who dreamed of sitting by the window. The parents, wanting to fulfil his request, asked one of the female passengers if they could swap seats. The woman’s answer caused quite a stir.

The passenger’s surprising reaction

Although the family attempted to switch seats at the booking stage, they were unable to do so. Hoping for the kindness of their fellow passengers, they asked the elderly woman to switch. However, she firmly refused. Halejcio, who had been watching the whole situation closely, did not hide her indignation.

The attitude of the elderly lady, who categorically insisted on her place at the window, not allowing the child to fulfil his dream, triggered strong emotions in Halejcio. The sight of the crying boy moved her to such an extent that she decided to intervene.

I stood up and took action. I wanted to help this family find places so they could sit together – she recounted.

Although Halejcio expressed her outrage at the situation, not all internet users shared her opinion. Many felt that the passenger had every right to refuse to swap seats and did not need to conform to the expectations of others. In the comments, there was much criticism of the influencer’s attitude:

Just like I see others doing, I’ve come to comment on this stork because it’s pure overkill. I have a child myself and I don’t get how you can expect everyone to conform around you. It’s not about helping (I myself gave up my seat on the bus to a mum with a child and someone gave up theirs on the train – but because the child had nowhere to sit). Here, everyone has a purchased seat. And have you thought about whether this might be the first flight in the life of this “old lady”? And she wants to admire the view? Or the last flight and she won’t be flying anywhere again? Plus it’s a term for a woman. Influencer, pity: referring to the story, the passenger, no matter where his seat is allocated, is not obliged to swap with anyone. (…) You should respect and obey the seat on your boarding pass, and when someone of their own good will gives a seat, you should say thank you and that’s that.
