During the semi-final match of the Olympic Games against the USA, Leon showed what he was capable of, breaking the record for the fastest play by reaching a speed of 134 km/h. However, his story does not end with sporting achievements.

Wilfredo Leon, currently involved with a Polish woman, married her eight years ago. The story of their relationship is truly fascinating and inspiring. His wife, Margareta Leon, admitted in an interview that she had always wanted to interview him.

Wilfredo Leon was a volleyball player who made a big impression. He was very young and was described as the `wonder child of volleyball’. On the other hand, he was totally inaccessible when it came to interviews. Few journalists had the opportunity to interview him or interact with him more. I wanted to become the person who would lead to this conversation,” Margaret Leon told TVP Sport.

The first meeting and the development of the relationship

With the help of his teammates, Malgorzata managed to reach Leon and make contact with him. Initially, it was only supposed to be a professional conversation, but it quickly developed into something more. As Margaret confessed, the dream interview never happened, as their conversations quickly moved onto a private topic, which led to a deeper relationship developing.

Through his teammates, we managed to reach out to him. We started talking. I will honestly admit that the kind of interview I had always dreamed of never happened, because we quickly moved on to private matters and the acquaintance went in a slightly different direction than I had expected at the beginning,” added Margaret Leon.

A family idyll

The couple married in 2016 and have since raised three children: seven-year-old Natalia, five-year-old Cristian and Selena, who was born in 2023. Together, they form a happy and close-knit family, and Leon, who has made a permanent move to Poland, can always count on the support of his beloved wife and children.
