Wojciech Szczęsny, after a brief retirement, has decided to make a big return to football, surprising everyone by signing for FC Barcelona. Although the Pole is still waiting to make his debut in the colours of the Blaugrana, his new teammates have already found a unique nickname for him, which has instantly won the affection of fans.

Szczęsny’s unexpected return to the game

When Szczęsny announced in August that he was ending his career, it seemed that the Polish goalkeeper would leave the playing fields for good. However, back in September, following an injury to Barcelona’s primary goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, the Catalan Pride approached Szczęsny with an offer that could not be refused. The 34-year-old accepted the offer, returning to the professional game and signing with the Spanish giant on 2 October.

Training and a new nickname

Szczesny immediately began intensive preparations under the guidance of Barcelona’s staff, and the club was quick to show off pictures of his training sessions. It was during one of these sessions that it was revealed that the Pole had been given a new nickname by his teammates – `Air Tek’. The surprising but creative nickname immediately sparked a wave of positive comments from fans.

When will he make his Barcelona debut?

Fans will have to wait a while longer for Szczęsny’s debut in Barcelona colours. The Polish goalkeeper’s first La Liga appearance is expected to come on 20 October in a clash against Sevilla.
